“Taking the Red Pill”

I was saved in a conservative denomination in 1972 and was taught and raised up in a conservative denomination.  Thus my thinking was developed conservatively; whatever “conservative” really means.

My wife Dianne and I always had our devotions and time alone with God in separate rooms of the house. For almost a month, the Holy Spirit had been speaking to my spirit in regard to understanding God’s Word than ever before. His word was jumping off the page. I was having a hard time sleeping all the way through the night with my new way of understanding. One morning after praying, I heard a soft voice in my ear;  “Mel, it’s time to pull down your strongholds and man’s traditions. It’s time to focus on the truth. I will give you wisdom in understanding”.  I imagined that He was telling me at this point in my spiritual life to turn in a different direction of understanding; to take the “red pill” [the Matrix movie] and go down the rabbit hole, or, I could take the “blue pill”.  I chose the “red pill” and I can’t go back even if I wanted to and I don’t!

Right after my experience, I went into to where my wife was finishing her prayer time that morning and told her about my experience of swallowing the “red pill”.  Her response was, “God has been working on a new thing in my spiritual life too!”  God had been working on both of us at the same time, in different rooms and in a different language, because of our different personalities. The taking of the “red pill” would have made no sense to her. So what was next?

The next week, I gave notice to a pastor in our church, what had happened to both of us. I was expecting his mouth to drop on the floor, but it didn’t. He said he would be sorry to have us both gone from the “conservative church”, but since it was God’s leading, he understood.  After searching for a new fellowship with our new thinking in 2005, we started a new adventure in God’s grace in a charismatic fellowship.  We have learned and experienced new things in Christ Jesus, that we would have never experienced if we both had not been faithful to God’s leading with His word.

Today, I continue to seek what God has in store for me in the ministry. Some amazing results have already been revealed and I will continue to be a “truth seeker” – The Word Detective, in sharing with you what the Holy Spirit has been whispering in my ear for each blog that I write.

  1. I want to thank you for your article, it was lovely to hear about you and your family. The article is interesting to me as I have received a white pebble with a new name. I am just researching about it all now and this was an interesting read so thank you for your input.

    1. Thank you, Marina, for taking time to read this Post. I’ll be publishing my next blog on June 13th, 2018 on a study in Revelation chapter 6. which again the “white stone” will be addressed.

  2. I love your blog. I love that the spirit and scripture are working together in your life. I found you through your study on Deborah. I love your humility and real-ness in your writing. Keep up the good work.
Btw, God called me out and rocked my world 10 years ago, and it’s been a wild ride. But it finally feels like “Life.”

  3. Shalom, Please, where are you located? Are you in Israel? I am needinf fellowship there but am unable to see where you are. Many blessings to you in Yeshua our King, Our Brother, our Savior!

  4. We have so much in common Mel! I was saved very young and attended “conservative” churches for many years. It’s amazing where God leads you in understanding when you really start reading and studying HIS WORD, it leads us to wonderful places we could never experience by keeping God in our box or some churches boxes (if you know what I mean). In all your posts I’ve read I have never gotten the sense that you are “ALL CRAZY CHARISMATIC” LOL

    1. U R right, I’m not! Although I’ve stopped hanging identification labels around my neck a long time ago. I just hope my life demonstrates my destination. And we do have a lot in common. Especially “wit”!

  5. Mel, I’ve read this and the Sabbath articles. Warning: be careful in this Charismatic Movement, there are a lot of grandiose, sensationalized, and false teachings that emphasize self promotion instead of the humble life. I was indoctrinated in this movement for 20 plus years. Just really move slowly, and as you do search the scriptures at all times. A note about the Sabbath Day. It is not Sunday, or any other days outside of Friday night and Saturday to sun down. No where in scripture does God change the Sabbath. Now Sunday could be interpreted the Lords Day (Resurrection), but still it’s not the Sabbath. I encourage you to research this. I thoroughly concur on your article on ” the tent maker Paul”, really believe by knowing the Jewish background you so vividly colored that,it was the tallith (small tent), and not the bedouin, or the Roman military tents. You would also have fun researching the Festivals of the Jewish Faith, and how they pertain to the Christian Faith today. Be blessed, Glen

    1. Wow, you dont see many people bringing up the feasts. Paul Nison and Passion for Truth ministries do a great job of explaining them and how they relate to us today.

  6. I love this. Thank you for sharing it with us all. And thank you for your comment on my blog, so I could trace you back to yours to read this. I can relate to what you’re saying, and it’s a much needed encouragement to me at this time.
