Before revealing the evidences I uncovered in God’s Word, about living a life of anger and strife, I wanted to give you some key definitions of where I am heading in all of this.
EMOTIONS: “Strong feelings on the inside caused by pain or pleasure that moves you in a direction.”
How true that definition is! In this blog, I will attempt to uncover and dig up the root of where negative emotions originate from; examples of negative emotions and what happens when they are exposed. Your emotions will always follow your way thinking and your thinking won’t be in the will of God.
The BLESSING: “An empowerment to succeed in everything you do”; God’s super on your natural.
I want to point out a possible misunderstanding of God’s blessing that comes to us who believe in His Son. In The Book of Proverbs, turn to page 919 [10:22]; know and understand:
“The blessing of the Lord — it makes …”
There is a difference between “The Blessing” and “A Blessing”; A blessing comes from “The blessing”. In Genesis 12:1-2, Abraham had to be blessed first before he received “a blessing”.
We have already been “BLESSED”:
Ephesians 1: 3 “May blessing be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has BLESSED US in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!”
Galatians 3:13-14; 29 “Christ purchased our freedom from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us… To the end that [through receiving] Christ Jesus, THE BLESSING [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham’s Seed], then you are Abraham’s offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.”
Based on the verses given, you now can say with your mouth, “The Blessing of God is in me, on me and around me.”
Is something blocking The Blessing?
There is no such thing as a “causeless curse”. In a previous blog, I discussed four ways to make a withdrawal from The Blessing:
1. Obedience [to the Word, specifically to LOVE].
3. Pure Heart.
4. Tithe exchange.
The four opposite ways or the reciprocal to BLOCK The BLESSING:
3. Not a pure heart.
4. No tithe exchange.
Deuteronomy 11:26-28 gives us a choice to follow, “Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse — The Blessing if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day; And the curse if you will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God …”
Sin is a BLESSING BLOCKER:
Is then ANGER, which is an emotion, really be a curse and a Blessing Blocker? Turn to Matthew 22:36-40 for the answer.
Verse 36, “Teacher, which kind of commandment is great and important (the principle kind) in the Law?
Verse 37, “And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).
Verse 38, “This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.
Verse 39-40, “And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself. These two commandments sum up and upon them depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
“I LOVE my God, but my neighbor … not so much”. If that is in your thoughts, your are in disobedience; a “Blessing Blocker”. It doesn’t matter if it’s your neighbor, or the person in the car that cuts you off in traffic, or …fill in the blanks. The question you shold ask yourself is, “Is my LOVE being displaye? “Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy …” 1 Corinthians 13:4.
Your emotions will follow your thinking and, when that thinking doesn’t line up with the Word of God, you are not in His will. SELF-CONTROL (“temperance”) is of God. It heads you in the direction you know God wants you to go. If self-control is a problem in your life, ask God for His help as you are moving in that direction.
THE ROOT is “powerlessness”:
In every negative emotion that is uprooted in your life will leave you powerless. Anger is an emotion rooted in a need to control or manipulate. Anger can and will take charge of your life and if you have to make someone feel guilty to do what you want them to do through your anger ….it’s manipulation. If your emotions have control over you, you have become “powerless”. God’s blessing that empowers you to succeed has been “blocked”.
SELFISHNESS at the center of The Blessing Blocker:
“Yeah but…you don’t know what they have said about me, or done to me. They deserve my anger!”
The devil tries to convince of;
1. Our circumstances.
2. Our personality.
3. Our weaknesses; they can’t be changed. Afterall, that’s who we are. It’s in our genes.
JEALOUSY delivered; “It just isn’t fair!” :
Proverbs 6:34 says, “For JEALOUSY makes [the wronged] man furious; therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance [upon the detected one].”
Proverbs 15:1 says, “A SOFT answer turns away wrath, BUT grievous words, stirs up anger.”
“Grievious” means, “harsh, extreme” words that are coming out of your mouth. If anger is present in the heart of man, then what comes out of the mouth-tongue-heart connection, “stirs the pot” of anger. It boils over!
When you get out of control; angry at another person, whether they hear your words or not, is not LOVE. As Pastor Andrew says, “It’s the Matter of the Heart”. It’s not the words you speak. It’s the heart condition; the attitude that is blocking “The blessing”!
Proverbs 15:18 says, “A hot-tempered man stirs up strife [fighting in disagreement because of “selfishness“] but he who is slow to anger appeases contention.”
Our Authority Given in PRAYER:
Have you ever experienced seeing a child throw himself down on the floor in a temper tantrum, because he isn’t getting his way? I have seen it in the grocery store, shaking my head in disgust from the display of “selfishness” and “anger”. And yet, as an adult, I throw a “temper tantrum” when I don’t get my way in a given circumstance and toss it off as righteousness. I don’t find myself on the floor but in defiance and stuborness,I certainly can demonstrate my anger. Because of the Holy Spirit living inside of me, reminding me who I am in Christ, I repent. Repent doesn’t say “I am sorry”. It means I confess that I am turning myself away, 180 degrees from my selfishness.
Through prayer we are given authority to change things; our selfishness, our lack of love for others, our quilts, our anger, our strife, even our negative emotions.
Say to yourselves, “I have authority over the earth because” :
1. God’s AUTHORITY over the earth in Genesis 1, was given to Adam.
2. Adam gave his AUTHORITY to SATAN.
3. JESUS took the AUTHORITY away from SATAN by His death on the cross.
4. JESUS then gave AUTHORITY over the earth to us.
The baton of AUTHORITY has been passed to us!
Matthew 28:18 “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go …”
“I have THE WORD SEED”.
“I have THE AUTHORITY”; the power.
Satan has tried to rob us of our authority over ANGER and STRIFE ; causing “powerlessness” over our emotions.
Is ALL anger bad? How about “righteous anger?”
Psalm 4:4 says, “Be angry [or stand in awe] and sin not; commune with your own hearts upon your beds and be silent (sorry for the things you say in your hearts). Selah [pause, and think about that]!”
Does that answer your question regarding “righteous anger? “Sin Not!”
RELEASING YOUR AUTHORITY:
1. Know who you are in Christ — Acts 19:13-16.
2. The first Adam didn’t know his identity. SATAN still tries to rob us of our identity.
Withdrawing from The Blessing; knowing who your are in Jesus, when ANGER and STRIFE are “stirred up”.
1. I am a son of God: John 1:12-13.
2. I am a “joint heir”… : Romans 8:16.
3. I am the seed … : Galatians 3:29.
4. I am the “righteousness of God”: Romans 3:22.
5. I am more than a conqueror or overcomer: 1 John 5:3-5.
6. I am part of a Royal Race; a Priest of God: Revelation 1:6.
Two of the most important decisions in your life:
1. Accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour and confessing Him as Lord over your life. Passing out of death and into eternal life; receiving The Blessing over the curse: John 3:16; Deuteronomy 30:19.
2. The second most important decision in your lives is often overlooked. When ever I feel overwhelmed, when ANGER and STRIFE boils over in my selfishness, I go to the Word of God. This verse is rooted in my heart and should be in yours:
Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, BUT BE TRANSFORMED (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourself Mel] what is the good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
The first decision that you make; “born again” in the spirit, is a one time decision. The second decision should be done over and over again; the “renewal of your mind” when it comes to the flesh; your anger and strife issues, a new attitude over anger and strife.
