“How to get angels to work for you”

Every morning, I take Riley (black and tan cocker spaniel) out for his “morning constitutional”. The other day,as we crossed the street  towards the golf course surrounding our neighborhood, I heard several geese honking as they headed northward. When they flew over our heads, I heard their wings moving in the air above me.  I even thought I felt a down-draft of air on top of me. Their  flapping-wing noise sounded uncontrolled at first but as they moved past us, the geese moved in perfect formation all under control. As they disappeared, I looked down at Riley and noticed that he too had noticed the spectacle above. At that moment, my imagination took flight also and I decided to write my next blog about angels. Dianne has been helping me, in re-writing my first  manuscript for the last few years. It is entitled “The Light Keepers” and the geese flying over head, brought back a remembrance of  scene in a chapter. I won’t give the plot away, not until it is finished.

I want to start by identifying who angels are; their significance or position in life. Frank Peretti said, “If you think spiritual warfare is mere fiction, think again.”

Ephesians 6:12  “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

I was watching a Pastor’s message on DayStar television a few days ago. He said that “science had finally caught up with the Bible”. “Einstein’s Theory of Relativity” and “Newton’s Law of Motion”, according to Wikipedia, “The speed of light travels at 186,282 miles per second”.  At that speed, light can travel through a solid stationary object. Also, your eyes” cannot see a thing” (invisibility), moving at that speed. Perhaps that is how Jesus, after His death, burial and resurrection could enter a room with the doors closed. Matthew 20:19, 27.

Turn to Psalm 91 and we will look together at what angel’s positions are in our physical lives.

Verse 10 says,  “There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.”

Verse 11, says  “For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].”

Verse 12,  “They [angels] shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.”

Angels are Covenant Protectors.  Go to the Book of Hebrews, verse 14 to get this understanding.

“Are not angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?”

That is a “covenant promise” for those who believe in His Son Jesus. God says that His angels position in our life is: Perseverance, Defense and Security or “Covenant Protectors”.  I found in other areas of God’s Word that gives evidence of angels ministering positions.

Angels will preserve your destiny.  HOW SO?  I will pause here while you turn and read Genesis 48:15-16.  I will read from my Amplified Version while you read from whatever version of God’s Word is next to you.

Verse 16,  “The redeeming Angel [that is, Angel the Redeemer–not a created being but the Lord Himself] Who has redeemed me continually from every evil…”

I found a noteworthy footnote regarding “Angel the Redeemer” in this verse and also in Genesis 16:7:  “The Angel of the Lord” is a distinct person Himself from God the Father. Nor does the “Angel of the Lord” appear again after Christ came in human form. The “Angel of the Lord” or “Angel Redeemer” must of necessity be One of the “three-in-one” Godhead.” The pre-incarnate Christ. That information is a side-bar.

Angels come to the rescue. Daniel 3:23; 28  and  Daniel 6:16; 19-22. [please read]

Angels are our security agents.  The writer of Hebrews has asked us a question; when God’s word says,  “Are not the angels ALL ministering spirits or servants sent…”  Hebrews 1:14.  If we are to believe and understand the wisdom of our covenant right about “ministering spirits sent” to us when we call.

How do we get angels to work for us?

Daniel 3:28  “Then Nebuchadnezzar said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who believed in, trusted in, and relied on Him!”

Angels were sent to Daniel’s three friends because, not only did they believe but they trusted in God. “How to get angels to work for you” starts with your TRUSTING. In Psalm 25:2-3,  “O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You…”  Here are three ways in how to get angels to work for you.

#1.  “TRUSTING in God”: That He will send messengers on your behalf.

#2.  “BELIEVE”:  In Luke 1:35, “the angel said..” to Mary how she was to conceive a Son. The angel Gabriel was sent because of Mary’s belief in verse 45.  Matthew 18:10 speaks to the issue of angels in connection with little children. Children have their own angels in  heaven. How do they work for them?  “…angels always are in the presence of and look upon the face of My Father Who’s in heaven.”

#3.  “SERVICES to God and the kingdom of God”:  Daniel 6:16,  “Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel, May your God, Whom you are serving continually, deliver you!”  Daniel served “continually” and God “delivered Him”. He will do the same for you!

The king in Daniel didn’t get much sleep that night and “arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions.”(Verse 19).  We all know about Daniel’s outcome and in verse 22, Daniel says  “My God has sent His angel…”  When it comes to your service to the Lord, do you like Daniel serve Him continually?  Or…are you spiritually unemployed?

When was the last time you released angels with the words from your mouth?  Psalm 4:3 says,  “But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself [and given distinction to] him who is godly [the man of loving-kindness]. The Lord listens and heeds when I call to Him.”  You call with the words of your mouth and when you do, “things happen”.

Do I have any personal experiences of angels sent to me by God?  I have and if you haven’t read my blog of March 10th, 2011 about “How to get results in prayer: A Foggy Day”, you should; I’ll leave it at that. Now if you are read this blog and don’t believe in angels, that doesn’t mean that angels don’t exist!  I will make a suggestion to you in getting you really interested. Read or re-read Frank E. Perretti’s “THIS PRESENT DARKNESS” and “PIERCING THE DARKNESS”.

There is so much more biblical evidence on ANGELS in the bible but I’ll let you be a “Word Detective” if you want more understanding. This blog was only a glimpse into “How to get angels to work for you”.

  1. Mel, may I call you Mel? Can you please elaborate on this for me? “When was the last time you released angels with the words from your mouth?” I believe I know what this means, but I am in the “waiting room” and going to a deeper place with the Lord than I have known before. Thank you!

    1. First, thanks for taking the time to comment on this particular POST. It would take way too much time to respond to your question; to reach a complete understanding on releasing God’s messengers (angels). But when I do my “word detective” investigations, I will grab a Bible concordance (on-line or out of my library) and follow the trail. Psalm 91:10-11 says, “The shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.” WHY? Because you “released”…asked out loud…”For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways…” You’ve got to open your mouth for help sometimes. If you find yourself drowning, “waving” won’t get much attention for help. But yelling at the top of your lungs, “Help, save me…” will cause responsive action!
