Does “Prosperity” Just Happen or Do You have to Plan for it?

If I knew back when, what I know today about planning for things down the road…WOW!  It’s amazing what “The Word” tells you about scheduling and planning ahead.  BUT James tells us that it takes more than just being a listener or knower of what to do. You have to be a “doer” of The Word. James 1:22-25. No seminars, no motivational talks can replace being a “doer” of The Word.

I would like to start my detective work today by identifying some words that we throw around in our conversations. The word, “WEALTH” and “POVERTY“. They are obviously opposed to one another. But why do we question “PROSPERITYS” real meaning and avoid going down the road to POVERTY?  Lets uncover some basic facts first, then we can see what The Word tells us to do.  How we can plan or schedule for, “true prosperity” in our lives. How we can be the “doers” and NOT the “doubters”.

I have found in God’s word, an important truth about WEALTH. Go to Deuteronomy 8 to start the investigation.

Verse 11 says,  “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God…”  Those words in bold letters should get your attention. “Beware” is telling you “to watch out for; pay attention”.  Then, “do not forget” God’s instructions, His precepts, His statutes, His Word on what is going to be unveiled in the next verse.

Verse 13,  “And when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied,”  Now were talking about “Prosperity”.  Verse 14-17 goes on to mentioned, in case you have forgotten where your prosperity comes from;  in all your difficult circumstances, “My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.”  Sorry folks, it’s NOT about what you have done with your hands. It”s NOT by your power and might but His! Finally in verse 18 , it says  “BUT you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”  I love the “BUT’s” in scripture. There are a few important clues in verse 18, corresponding to planning for your prosperity.

Clue #1.  [Earnestly] remember where it all comes from.

Clue #2.  That your “Prosperity and Wealth” comes from God’s power through you.

Clue #3.  The “covenant connection” between you and the Father. It is still in effect “as it is this day”. God doesn’t forget His promises.

What is WEALTH according to God’s Word in Deuteronomy 8 ?   WEALTH is not gained; it’s obtained or acquired through God’s given ability or power and through His anointing on us. His super on our natural. Plant that fact-seed in your heart and then planning can begin.

There is an opposite way of thinking also. What is the POVERTY condition? Poverty is a spiritual condition and not just a lack of money. The dictionary definition of POVERTY is:  “To rob, to seize, to ruin, to lack in need.”  It is the direct opposite of PROSPERITY or the opposite of being “complete or whole”. I uncovered something interesting in Revelation 3:14-18 regarding the planning and choosing the right path toward,  “PROSPERITY” or “POVERTY”. Yes, it is a choice.

Rev. 3:17-18 says,  “For you say, I am rich; I have prospered and grown wealthy, and I am in need of nothing; and you do not recognize and understand that you are wretched, pitable, poor, blind, and naked.   “Therefore I counsel you to purchase [obtain from God] from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be [truly] wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes, that you may see.”

I believe those verses are saying, in planning toward success, you have to choose. Choose between having a Frank Sinatra attitude; “I rather have it my way” or by putting the clothing of Christ on yourself.  This will prevent poverty and nakedness from showing up. Have you ever wondered why unbelievers, the unrighteous seemed to have wealth by the world’s standards and there is “lack” in your life?  Find one of the answers to that question and how it relates to others, or perhaps yourself.

Proverbs 13:22-23,  “A good man leaves an inheritance [of moral stability and goodness] to his children’s children, and wealth of the sinner [finds its way eventually] into the hands of the righteous, for whom it was laid up.”   “Much food is in the tilled land of the poor, but there are those who are destroyed because of injustice.”

Did you read my blog on the “7 Corresponding Actions to Financial Prosperity” ?  Ask yourself these questions if you have made the choice to be  PROSPEROUS””.  Is “giving” a regular part of your living and you do it because you love God, not because your pastor says they need it to function?  Are you releasing the “blessing” flow” by opening the channel thru “working”.  Are you reading and meditating on The Word of God day and night? Meditating on the word means you keep reading it until the Word speaks back. Is “thinking” in your planning; coordinating your thoughts.  Are you in a “trusting” frame of mind?  You are without worry because of  casting or “flinging” your cares or circumstances on Him?  “Trust stays the same, no matter the circumstances.”  Are you “talking and speaking” towards your prosperity; not talking about your prosperity or lack? Are you willing to “wait” for the harvest” Blade time and stalk time? It takes waiting in patience. And last but not least; Are you thanking God in your patience? Faith and endurance [patience] produces the promise.

True prosperity deals with wholeness; your health, your relationships and your well-being in all areas of your life. “Does “Prosperity” Just Happen…?”  No, “You have to plan for it in advance”.
