God”s system operates in our lives as believers, entirely different from the worlds system. Especially in the matter of financial prosperity. God knows our hearts; the way we think, our emotions, our actions. The Lord tells us in Y’ hoshua 1:5, “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.” That’s Prosperity! He won’t— nor will He ever leave you in lack. Why? Because God can’t lie…PERIOD.
I think I mentioned in a previous blog that my career in the field of construction was somewhat shaky. When times got tough, the support staff would be let go and that was me. At times, when I got a new job with a contractor, it wasn’t IF I would be let go down the road. It was WHEN, I would be told my services were no longer needed. In one of those unemployment periods, my young family was again experiencing a time of LACK. As some of you know, un-employment checks help, but not for long. One Sunday, morning on the way to church, we all were openly discussing the current financial situation in the family. Dianne and I thought it would be best for the children to know our financial concerns; no panic but concerns. We had all prayed that our needs would be met. He had always met our needs before. The church we were attending had mail boxes on the wall in the foyer that we checked every Sunday. Bulletins, messages, church events and so on would be in the “Thompson Family” slot. That morning, I looked into our box and there was one envelope. Inside was $1oo cash and a hand written, un-signed note. “Mel and Dianne, we hope you will be able to use this money for food or whatever you family might need”. That brought Joshua 1:5 to mind in The Word Detective’s blog. Today, and for ever more, my Lord “… will be with you (Mel); I will not fail you (Mel) or forsake you (Mel).” That brings me to my lab results; uncovering evidence to the steps of unlocking prosperity.
Turn to the Book of James in the New Testament, starting at verse 17. Lets back-up to verse 14 and read first:
Verse 14, “What is the use (profit), my brethren, for anyone to profess to have faith if he has no [good] works [to show for it]? Can [such] faith save [his soul]?” Lets keep reading in verse 15, “If a brother or sister is poorly clad and lacks food for each day” . Now watch these next two verses carefully. Verse 16, “And one of you says to him Good-bye! Keep [yourself] warm and well fed, without giving him the necessities for the body, what good does that do? Finally, we come to a conclusion in thinking, in Verse 17, “So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).”
James is telling us “dead” is being alone. Faith requires action; with faith comes confidence or a corresponding action. Now acting on your faith is different from acting beyond your faith. The “corresponding action” comes after developing your faith. Operating in this “corresponding action” includes your prosperity.
James 1:22-23 talks about finding action to correspond with that level of ‘you doers’. I remember the childhood logo that was posted everywhere I went. “STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN”. James gives us an additive to that logo. STOP, LOOK, LISTEN AND “DO”. Hearing how to succeed isn’t enough. James 1:25 says,
“BUT he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets BUT an active doer [who obeys], he shall be BLESSED in his doing.” DOING HAS A CORRESPONDING ACTION. If you GIVE, then the corresponding actions is…? You will be BLESSED!
The Number 1 “CORRESPONDING ACTION if you are a “doer” “TO FINANCIAL PROSPERITY”, it’s in “Giving”. Not just “giving” but giving as a way of life. I found this week in my investigation, there are different dimensions in giving.
#1. TITHING–An act of loving God. It is your covenant connection.
#2. FREE WILL OFFERINGS–Coming before the Lord in appreciation of His Hand on you life.
Number 2 Action is, “Working”. Proverbs 14:23 says, “In all labor there is profit, but idle talk leads on to poverty.” Working opens the channel thru which the blessings are released and is followed by the outflow. “Prosperity”
Number 3 Action is, “Thinking”. That is your ability of coordinating thoughts productively. (More on that later)
Number 4 Action is, “Trusting”. A commitment that commands resting in your “circumstance” without worry. Trusting stays the same, no matter what!
Number 5 Action is, “Talking and Speaking”. You will never” prosper” until you talk TO prosperity; not ABOUT prosperity.
Number 6 Action is, “Waiting”. Mark Chapter 4 illustrates this action.
Verses 26-29, “And He said, The Kingdom of God is like a man who scatter seed upon the ground, And then continues sleeping and rising night and day while the seeds sprouts and grows and increases–he knows not how. The earth produces [acting] by itself–first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe and permits, immediately he sends forth [the reapers] and puts in the sickle, because the harvest stands ready.”
How many times have I planted “seeds” and waited, and waited, and waited for “something” to poke up through the dirt. That first appearance of the “blade” is sometimes agonizing in the waiting. The “blade time” can sometimes be detrimental to the harvest. Then when you finally observe the seed sprout poking it’s self upward, there is the “stalk time“. That’s when the tender sprout blade becomes thick. And finally, after weeks of caring and nurturing, “Harvest time“. “Waiting” for your harvest time is the hardest for some in owning their “prosperity”. I remember an old “Ziggy” cartoon, where he was sitting on a hillside staring out to sea. The caption read, “I been waiting for my ship to come in BUT every time it comes in…it’s a garbage barge.” Instant harvesting never ‘just happens. Neither does “financial success”. You will always have “blade time” and “stalk time” before you see the harvest.
The last of the “Corresponding Actions to Financial Prosperity” is,
Number 7 Action is, “Thankfulness”. Psalm 67:5-7 speaks of a gratitude to God in just thanking Him. Our thinking and prayer life should NOT be a “please God” but of “thankfulness for what You are about to do God”. I like what His Word proclaims in Psalm 119:89-90:
“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [stands firm as the heavens]. Your faithfulness is from generation to generation; You have established the earth, and it stands fast.”
Your prosperity has already been established in heaven; His word says so. You need to be faithful to His word and claim it; in Jesus Name, thanking Him for what He has already done! “To be thankful is to be fruitful”.
The next time we meet, I will unveil the facts and truth regarding the importance of “patience” in prosperity is. Also, what real wealth is about.
