“Do things just happen?” HAPPENSTANCE -(part 2)

I, as many of you do, have a defective quality in my personality that has put me in situations I have regretted for years. That’s blurting out words, without thinking what effect they would have on others and myself. I won’t get into the specifics, but thanks be to God, for His grace and mercy and forgiveness. And His patience with my faults.

I want to discuss how our words affect circumstances in our lives; contradicting the theory of “HAPPENSTANCE”.  Whether you believe what I am about to say or not… words have consequences.  As an illustration, lets look at what God’s Word has to say about “what we say”.

Proverbs 18:20,  “A mans [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil].”

Verse 21 then goes on to say,  “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [foe death and life].”

According to those quoted verses in Proverbs; “Death and life”  are in the power of the tongue. What we all say, will turn on the corresponding law. Go with me now to James 3:1-4 to see how our tongues can work in the things that surrounds us. Read verse 1 thru 3 first and then we will pick up the evidence in Verse 4.

Verse 4 says,  “Likewise, look at the ships: though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines.”

The facts unveiled in James is very obvious; our mouths are like a ship’s rudder. If I am off course by just a little bit…I will end up at a different destination. Faith is not calling “what’s there that is“. Faith is calling “what’s not here into being“.  Fear in your life requires repentance or a change of direction. You won’t be able to change direction without changing your thinking.

WORDS ARE THINGS. James 1:26; James 3:5-6.

These verses in James should give us evidence regarding  “the heart to mouth connection”.  “For out of your heart comes the issues of life”. God’s Word that is conceived in your heart, formed by your tongue, and spoken with your mouth releases a spiritual force. A “FORCE” like dynamite going off.  Here is an example of what I have heard people share in church ‘small groups’.

“I’ve said this before that I am healed but I still haven’t seen anything. So, what’s that all about?” Maybe you have made this statement yourself before. Not publically, but you thought it yourself.  Nothing has happened because you haven’t conceived it yet!

Words are things! Not just invisible things that you couldn’t see when you said them.  Because you” can’t see a thing”, doesn’t mean it’s not so. We know the story in Genesis I when God spoke, He saw; “Let there be light”. A better translation would read, “Light in Me, be!”

When words [Hebrew for word is debar, “things”] are spoken, a FORCE is released. Luke mentions that “the angel (Gabriel) said“. Mary conceived  the word-seed or the sperma. Nine months later…from “the power of the Most High will overshadow you and so the Holy Thing shall be born of you…” (Luke 1:35 in the Amplified version). The same thing can happen to us when “word-things” are spoken. Things like healing, deliverance or financial prosperity can come from seeds.  As long as conception takes place in the heart first. If you can’t believe that you are healed by saying so, you won’t see it!

More evidence was found in Psalm 91:1-8, uncovering the truths about how things just don’t happen. They happen because we say it.

Psalm 91, verse 2,  “I will say…” .  When do we find the Refuge of the Lord?  When we say a “thing”. My dominion and authority is found in my mouth. How do I appropriate it? By conception. “Be it unto me because of Your Word” (Luke 1:38). Knowing about a “thing” isn’t enough. You have to “turn it on” then “appropriate it”.

Only “things” that are conceived and meditated on become seen. You hear what you see and what you say is what you see. That’s the  sperma  of the word; which appropriates God’s promises. Yes men, we too can become pregnant, not with a child (NO Duh!). Is any of what I have uncovered making sense at all?   Go to Isaiah 53 and I will give you an example of how saying things with your mouth can work.

Isaiah 53:4-5,  “Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains…”  “BUT He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities…and with the stripes [that wounded] Him, we are healed.”   Rather than pray about the message; meditate on it. Meditate means you keep saying it till IT speaks to you.

The Word of God is different from the Word from God. When Mary became pregnant, it was “A Word” from God, not a Word of God. Philippians 4:13 was conceived in Paul’s heart when he said,

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me: I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].”

How did Paul “conceive” it or get “pregnant” with it, that he could say…?  Verse 11, “I have learned…”,  Verse 12, “I know how” and “I know also” and “I have learned in any and all circumstance”, NOT “HAPPENSTANCE”. A spiritual force was released in Paul’s saying.

In Part 3, I want to do my detective work in “How God’s System Operates” in His kingdom. We will learn that “Nothing Just Happens”.
