“The Last Days” sermon today.

Dianne and I thought we would visit a church this morning that was closer to home. With gas prices where they are, a “visit” to hear a different take on God’s Word wouldn’t hurt .  The message was delivered from II Timothy 3 and entitled from the church bulletin, “Missions: the Best & Worst of Times Yet to Come”.  The church pastor did a good job in using Scripture to staying on point; the traditional three-point message. Now our purpose for visiting was NOT to pass judgement on their worship, people or ministries. Our point was to Worship our Heavenly Father and give Him back glory. So why am I even blogging about this morning’s experience?

The Apostle Paul gives his disciple Timothy, in chapter 2:15 an important reminder when listening to the word. This verse comes before Paul’s “The Last Days”  teaching or “the Best & Worst of Times Yet to Come” warning.  Both messages are valid points.

Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved, a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightfully handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.”

At the beginning of the Pastor’s message, he rightly directed the membership toward our purposes as a church. The church is to equip its members to do the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church) Ephesians 3:12.  Also, God’s Spirit gave us all gifts to be able to equip the saints. AMEN! Where am I going next? He also quoted from Ephesians 3:11; well he kind of quoted from that verse. He gave a list of equipping gifts,  “…some evangelist, some pastors and teachers”.  In my bible, that is a partial list. How about your translation? I know what you might be thinking. “Well, todays churches don’t recognize the other gifts of apostles and prophets”. Okay, let’s go back to II Timothy 3:16 and “analyze and accurately divide the Word of Truth”.

Verse 16 says,  “EVERY SCRIPTURE is God breathed and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and obedience…”

Base then on this verse and in conjunction with ALL verses in God’s Word, a mishandling of the Word of Truth has occurred. Not intentionnally of course, but from traditional misunderstanding.  In this weeks blogging, I discussed at length the “Four Keys in withdrawing from what God has already deposited in our names; “The Blessing“. The first key mentioned was OBEDIENCE. Now with every rule there is a reciprocal, or a block to the flow; the “fruit” from “The Blessing“.  NO ROOT, NO FRUIT! Sin is a “blocker” to The Blessing and “disobedience” to the Word is sin. So if “EVERY SCRIPTURE” has its purpose and we admittedly say ‘some scripture’ instead of “ALL Scripture”. then we are in disobedience. If a church wants to manifest the “FRUIT” in Missions, then get rid of the “BLOCKER” to The Blessing.

Now why am I bringing up all this up in my blog today? This Pastor will not even read my thoughts about what he said. He doesn’t even know who I am.  But one thing I do know is, I am an “eager workman” to study and correctly analyze the Word. I am “The Word Detective” that receives the empowerment from The Blessing and I claim it in the Power of the  BLOOD of Jesus!
